As
I am typing this I am on an eight-hour flight to New York. The group is spread
all over the aircraft so I am sitting alone and it is somehow nice. I can get a
bit of workdone, read my new book and get some rest as I will need all my
energy the next few days.
Whenever
I am on a longer flight it is handy to have some things with me, my top ten items
I think everyone should bring:
2. A book to read.
I brought two actual books as well as my e-reader. At one of my goodbye parties
my mum’s side of the family gave me an e-reader. It is basically a digital
library and you can buy digital books to read. It weighs a lot less than an
actual book, takes up less space and you can bring multiple books. Currently I
have a little over 300 books on there, thanks to my lovely cousin ;)
3. A bottle of
water. We don’t want to get dehydrated! I just bring a mini one and it keeps me
from having to buy an extremely overpriced bottle. You are not allowed to take
any liquids over 100ml so keep in mind that the bottle needs to be empty and
you can fill it in the bathroom after security.
4. My laptop. I
don’t want to check in my laptop as it is too valuable and airport staff throws
around your suitcase or other baggage items like it ain’t #&*. Also I can
do a bit of editing, blogging or listening to music.
5. Eye-drops.
These belong in the transparent liquids bag, the one I forgot at home this time
(AGH!). My eyes tend to get super dry when I am on the airplane so these drops
are a lifesaver. Now I don’t have it I already feel my eyes starting to hurt...
Hello bloodshot eyes!
6. Other liquids.
The travel-size ones I usually bring: toothpaste, deodorant, anti-bacterial
(!!!), face crème, perfume, handgel, lip moisturiser and maybe some others that
I have forgotten. As I forgot the whole bag at home… If any of you know me,
you’ll know that I am obsessed with the things in this little bag so I was
pretty ‘annoyed’ to find out I didn’t have them with me.
7. A scarf and a
jacket. It can get pretty chilly on flights so to bring something to keep you
warm is a necessity! I tie my scarf around my carry on so it doesn’t get lost,
it’s easily accessible and it is handy to recognize my typical black suitcase.
8. Chargers and
things. I recently bought a hard disk and a portable phone charger. Lifesavers.
Of course for all the electronics I am taking with, I need chargers and
connection cables and what not.
9. An extra set of
clothes. Just in case the stuff you checked in gets lost or is on a later
flight. This way you’ll have fresh clothes to wear for the next day to go out
shopping for new items, depending on the situation.
10. PASSPORT AND BOARDING TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have
a safe flight!
Much love,
Naomi
